Chapter Six

“Oh, he needs his ass whooped for that!” Thea screamed in my ear.

I’d just told her that Satin wasn’t West’s mistress and that all along, he’d been lying about her name.

Since I’d discovered the truth, most days, I didn’t know whether I was coming or going. West and I were arguing again. We argued mostly about the real identity of his mistress. The curiosity was killing me. I wanted to know who she was.

“And he won’t tell you who she is?”

“No. He says that it’s over.”

“Do you believe him.”

“I don’t know.”

Thea attempted to get me to look at the bright side of the situation, but I couldn’t see through the rain.

I’d thought that I had answers, only to find out that all along, I hadn’t known anything at all.

“And after what I did, to the wrong woman, I can barely stand the sight of him!”

“I told you to take my approach from the very beginning! You should’ve approached her, and let her know that you are West’s wife, after we saw them hug that night at the bar. That way, she could’ve told you right then and there, that she wasn’t sleeping with your husband. She was sleeping with a different dog.”

And now I couldn’t do a thing to make it right.

Had she just had a fall or a miscarriage, she could’ve just tried again, but she would never get the chance to.

All because of me.

“I saw Ying on T.V.”

“Yeah. Chile, they’re looking for his ass.”

“They’re saying that he’s responsible for millions of missing dollars.”

“It ain’t missing. He has it.”

“And you’re okay with that? With being on the run with him?”

“Girl, I’m ride or die. I ain’t going no damn where. And besides, with all of the money that he took, they ain’t ever going to find us; until after Ying executes some little plan to clear his name, even though he is guilty. He says that he’s going to link everything to someone else that is involved, that tried to turn it all on him, but he says that his plan will take time. And since I don’t have anything better to do,” Thea laughed. I didn’t. “We’re leaving China, knowing that they’ll probably start looking here, eventually. You know, Ying’s family and all. For a while, we’re going to travel the world. Ying was prepared. He had a feeling that this day would come. Girl, he already had fake identities, a boat, a jet that I had no idea about, and there’s no telling what else.”

“Be careful Thea. I don’t want you to end up in prison.”

“I won’t. If they catch his ass, I already told him that I’m going to tell them that he kept me hostage and forced me to go with him. He’s cool with that. And as for my issue, I talked to Mama. She said the cops visited her too. She said once they started asking about me, she told him that he’d had a gambling problem and that a man from up North had been looking for him and threating to kill him for quite some time.
